I have been thinking of building a blog for a long time but always couldn’t find the perfect day. I was really sick when I woke up this morning, so I asked for a day off. The idea of building a blog today just came to my mind naturally.
After 5 minutes of quick search on “how to build a blog website” I decided to try out WordPress first. I do want to build it from scratch to practice my web dev skills, but I am also interested in seeing what WordPress offers as the industry standard.
My experience so far with the WordPress free plan has been pretty good. It offers a variety of templates, which save me a lot of time on styling. And of course, since the contents are hosted on their server, I don’t need to set up databases on my own, even though it would be a fun experience if I could do that in the future.
I really want to have a music player bar on top of my website, the one that you always see and get jumpscrared when you scrolling through others sites from the early 00s. I’ve tried the Spotify/Soundcloud Embed widgets, as well as using HTML code with iframe, but none of them fit the aesthetic of my website. I will look into this further.
I would also like to purchase a domain name in the future. trashpanda.land is a good one, or trashpanda.me.
I designed the logo of this website by myself. I pulled out my iPad that hasn’t been charged for a decade, and spent 30 minutes drawing it on Procreate. I really like it, that’s why you will see me spamming this little guy everywhere on this site.

I might only post in English on this blog, since I really want to practice my English writing, or in other words, generating thoughts in English. If you enjoy shitposting in Chinese, please go to my mastodon account and send me a follow request.
The main topics I would like to discuss would be around media (music, movies, video games), culture, programming, politics, personal ups and downs, and so on.
The comment section is also open so feel free to share your thoughts down there.
That’s it. Thank you for reading my first blog!
